Paula Badosa dominates Mirra Andreeva in Rome

Excellent performance for Paula Badosa. The Spaniard, who dropped to 126th place in the world and has long been suffering from a back injury, dominated the young Russian nugget Mirra Andreeva (40th) in two sets (6-2, 6-3) in the first round of the WTA 1000 in Rome. Andreeva remained in the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 in Rouen, but she couldn’t find the solution under the drizzle that bathed the Eternal City this Tuesday morning.

Particularly crumbly on serve, Andreeva never won her faceoff in the first set and did not win more than 50% of the points behind her first ball during the match. This win should allow Badosa to gain confidence in facing the No. 21 seed, American Emma Navarro, in the second round.
