Metz will face Bietigheim (Germany) in the Champions League semi-finals

Fate was not unfortunate for Metz Handball. The French champions will in fact oppose Bietigheim (Germany), the less prestigious team, in the 2024 Champions League Final Four (1 and 2 June in Budapest).

While the Hungarian favorite Györ, at home, will face the Danish team Esbjerg, Emmanuel Mayonnade’s players, looking for their first final after two attempts (4th in 2019, 3rd in 2022), will have the advantage of the predictions against Bietigheim , sixth in their group and surprise guest for the first time in the square after eliminating two Danish teams, Ikast and Odense, in the play-offs.

Kiel-Barcelona shock for the men

As for the men, the semi-final clash in Cologne (8 and 9 June) will see two of the most successful clubs of the event face each other, Kiel (4 titles), Scorer for Montpellier in the quarter-finals after going back nine goals after the first leg, away to FC Barcelona (11 titles, record), scorer of Paris-SG.

Without a French club, there will still be four Blues in the running. One or three of them will definitely play in the final. Goalkeeper Samir Bellahcene (Kiel) will face the trio of Barça defenders, Dika Mem, Timothey N’Guessan and Melvyn Richardson. The Germans Magdeburg, reigning champions, will face Aalborg (Denmark) in the other semi-final.
